Comments: Mrs. Melinda Yokokura has been the absolute best part of our daughter’s year. Even with all the general disorganization and changes happening across the school lately, she has managed to keep her classroom a stable, calm, and positive place for the kids. It’s very clear from a parent's perspective that the teachers are working under a lot of pressure right now without enough administrative support, yet she still handles everything incredibly professionally. We have a lot of respect for her dedication, and that is why we still talk; however, the school administration really needs to start prioritizing and supporting teachers like Melinda who are carrying the weight of the school's expansion.

What do you appreciate most about the teacher’s approach to teaching and engaging with your child?
Mrs. Melinda Yokokura was a solid Grade 1 teacher and was easily been the best part of our child's experience this year. She is patient with the kids and keeps them engaged. I especially appreciated the effort she put into planning the Grade 1 field trips, which were well-organized and gave the kids a great break from standard desk work. Communication with parents is always straightforward and transparent. While the school itself has been chaotic lately, her classroom has felt like a stable, positive environment for our child. We respect her a lot as an educator. If there is one area for improvement, it would be finding ways to give her more administrative or assistant support in the classroom. With the recent influx of new students, it is clear that managing student behavior and addressing everyone's individual needs takes an immense amount of energy, and she shouldn't have to handle that pressure entirely on her own.
What improvements, if any, would you suggest to enhance your child’s learning experience in this class?
The class could really use a more daily support from the administration. With the school expanding and taking on so many new students, the classrooms feels a bit overwhelmed.
Is there anything specific about the teacher’s approach that has made a positive and/or negative impact on your child’s development or academic progress?
Her hands-on approach to the Grade 1 has been excellent. Her communication with parents was always straightforward and helpful, which we really appreciated. No complaints at all about her actual teaching approach.
